Judith Weiler – writer/producer

Judith Weiler (born 1986) is a writer/producer and the CEO/founder of Butterfilm. After a year of writing for a local newspaper, and her subsequent studies in communications and literature, she started her filmmaking career by working as an assistant on various national and international film and TV productions. Since 2013 she was employed as a junior producer at 2Pilots Filmproduction and augenschein Filmproduktion in Cologne. While gathering hands-on producing experience, she participated in the International Producing program of the ifs international film school in Cologne. In 2015 she started her own company Butterfilm with a scholarship and since then produced several short and middle length films as well as a first feature as a producer. Judith is an Alumna of Rotterdam Lab 2017 and the EAVE PUENTES workshop of 2020/21.

Recently, her interest turned from producing more towards writing. She trained her TV writing skills in classes from Pilar Alessandra, Morgan Gendel, Brent Forrester and many more. Under the Butterfilm umbrella, Judith writes and produces series and the feature film highlights of tomorrow, preferably together with others. The development of her projects received support from the Film- and Media Fund NRW and the public broadcaster ZDF among others. Since 2019, Judith has also been serving justice as a volunteer juror at the Cologne District Court.
